I have just landed in Christchuch airport awaiting a connecting flight to Hokitika in four hours. I have my first Speights in hand at 9.30am to get the taste (or non taste) buds going and thought I would start a thread where us that are here can fill you in on what you wont see on TV.

My first impressions of NZ in RWC conditions - Choice bro!

er here are awesome. There are people from all over floating about...including some poor folk who didn't realise there was a world cup on. Heading to collingwood today - wonder how many gap toothed bogans the NZ version has ..

One week to go then arrive Wellington next Friday morning (along with half of Perth's rugbeyans it would seem). A little over 2 weeks with the cousie bro's in Wellington, Queenstown, Auckland, Bay of Islands then back to Auckland for the final before returning to Perth. Still off the beer - it's now 306 days but whose counting. Might not make it through October.

Intent is to post a blog most days with pics etc for friends and familly. I'll post the address when we get to NZ.

Hit the ground running TiF?

Yes been with my old mate Sparko all day in Grey Valley, home of NZ Rugby League and sadly home to many mining disasters, midnight here but here the rest of todays effort all in under 100kms

Just the one stop so far today at The Punakiki Hotel near Pancake Rocks. Weather has been amazing, sunshine all day, and a spectacular drive. Just about to hit Nelson and get refreshed!

Hard to get on WiFi over here...free. In nelson today - been to sprig and fern, vic, 623, plan b, verdict, free house and counting. Eley and I both in force gear today. Saw the boys on the bus heading to the stadium today. Found a pub doing the afl final....actually convinced bar manager to screen it after wallabies game. Cheers everyone. Awaiting arrival of TiF
