    Rebels sign young Force prop

THE Melbourne Rebels have continued a busy off-season with the signing of teenage prop Paul Alo-Emile from the Western Force on a two-year contract.

Alo-Emile, 19, is an Australian schoolboys and under-20s representative who joined the Western Force from the Queensland Reds Academy.

He joins Wallabies Kurtley Beale, the reigning John Eales medallist, and James O'Connor and Western Force back Mitch Inman at The Stockade for 2012.

Alo-Emile impressed with his performances for Australia in the IRB Junior World Championships in Argentina (2010) and Italy (2011).

The Rebels have also landed Auckland Blues lock James King on a two-year contract.

King, 24, played for Super Rugby games for the Blues this year.

Rebels coach Damien Hill said the signings reflected the clubs long-term ambitions.

“Paul Alo-Emile has already proven himself against the best international players in his age group and he is an important signing for the club," Hill said.

There goes the rule for a decade Australian U20 Front Row then...
Money must be stronger than the mateship that alledgedly brought him West in the first place.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

From what I know he was to be offered an extended player contract for 15k or so which does not guarantee any playing time. Good player and sad to see him leave.

    ---------- Post added at 08:22 ---------- Previous post was at 08:10 ----------

FYI - Cruze was had a ?trail? with NSW but not sure if it came to anything... again I don't think he has been offered anything here? All teams (barring the Rebels) are securing their 5 extended player contract signings at the moment to build the squad to 35. These signings can only come from a National Talent Pool released by the ARU a week or so ago. 215 names were on the list which is a joke... are there over 200 players in Aus ready for Super Rugby? In addition it looks as if all young talent (70?? in all) from around the country will have to join a new National Academy in Sydney and Brisbane or else not be considered for the upcoming Junior World Cup in Cape Town next June. Watch as all our young lads get lost to local rugby and integrated in the Shute Shield or the Qld equivalent next season. I have heard on the rumor mill that at least 10 young Premier Grade lads are heading East due to this. Nothing that the Force can do as the ARU has pulled 500k funding for junior development.

It is back to the bad old days where the East decides who makes it and who doesn't. Its a sad time for local development.

If it is money that lured him to Melbourne I say good for him. Players have a relatively short time frame where they can earn big dollars through playing not to mention an injury or two seeing you cut from a playing list or worst case scenraio ending a career. Not everyone is cut out for a cushy media job at the end of a playing career

Yes it can be a bitter pill to swallow sometimes but unfortunately most sport fans have to cop it. It will only get worse as the Salary Cap era filters through Australian Rugby

If JON has his way we will see the great drain as up and coming talent cash in overseas. Its a business now and until the ARU realise this Australian rugby will become a training ground for those who wish to head overseas. This is not AFL or NRL where the lads haev no where else to go so a dictatorial approach will work, its a world game.

So the Force offered him $15'000, the Rebels offered him a full contract.

You can be judgmental all you want, but as a professional rugby player you have to go where the opportunity is, the Force werent offering it, the Rebels did.
