    2011 PG Hampshire Awards

Does anyone have suggestions as to who will win this years PG Hampshire Award due to be announced tomorrow?

    2010 was:

    RugbyWA 2010 Awards

PG Hampshire Award - David Cloete

    Coach Award - Ian Fowler

Top Try Scorer - Nathan Hunt

Top Point Scorer - David Cloete

Most Improved Player - Ryan Hodson

Best Colt Player (U20) - Siliva Siliva

    Women’s Best & Fairest - Stacey Kilmister

    Referee Award - Julian Pritchard

Suggestions for the above in 2011??

Would the coach award go to Steve McFarland for getting Uni into the GF? Or Tony Ball for getting Neddies there yet again? (plus Steve is Hale's coach, and they won again...)

My prediction for the ref award is Rob Kellam.

Dunno about the other awards 'cos I havent' seen much Premier, Colts or Women's rugby this year.

I think McFarland should get the coaches - great turn around by Uni - PG H to.... too many players stepped up this year - maybe Nate Roberts at Nedlands? U20s.. not sure but there were quite a few playing premier grade so that should cut it down.

Most improved - Jelly Chongwe from the Curtin Goats with 450 games now and can actually pass this year.

Just for the record: Tony Ball began playing rugby in WA with Nedlands Juniors as an under 14. Went on to represent Australia at under 16 level. Injuries forced him out of the game and onto coaching. 2 off minor premierships and 2 off major premierships coaching Nedlands Reserve Grade.( 2007/2008) 1st year as Coach in Premier grade (2009)took Nedlands to 26th consecutive finals appearance after rising through the premier grade table from 8th to top four. ( Showing Cott how to do it this year). In 2010 won both Minor and Major Premierships, In 2011 won Minor Premiership with 21 point break on rest of field. Is also a junior coach and has developed many under 20 players into Senior ranks over past two years, has also encouraged and brought on board 3 new coaches and one new Ref. Undertaken advanced coaching IRANZ course in N.Z.Also all of this done on total volunteer basis.

BUT he's not good looking, nor is he a yes - man and not the most accomplished public speaker.

Steve MacFarland won Coaches award. Whilst an absolute gentleman has no Flags to his name in Premier Grade.

Wow - Razor gets the PG award... McFarland has done a great job with Uni. Hear that Juan P from Neddies won the most improved, Soaks #10 won most points, Hunty from Cott won most tries and Ollie Hoskins from Cott won Under 20s player.

"Whistle blower Rob Kellham was rewarded for his consistency in 2011 with the Referee Award which is voted on jointly by RugbyWA and the Referee’s Association. Kellham will be an Assistant Referee in the KWIK Premier Grade Grand Final this weekend."
