Book Review: Stan Bisset - Kokoda Wallaby by Andrew James

Just out, this book tells the story of Stan Bisset a member of the "2nd Wallabies", the tour that arrived on England's shores the day WW2 was declared.

The tour was cancelled and the players came back to Australia. Many signed up to the AIF and were soon in far flung places like the Middle East and eventually New Guinea.

The book relates Stan Bisset's movements leading up to the Wallaby tour and how he ended up on the Kokoda Track and it was there he held his dying brother in his arms for hours and comforted him as his life passed away.

A great read that maybe someone should buy for James O'Connor.

kOKODA by Peter FitzSimons focused heavily on the Bisset brothers as well, from memory his brother was called Butch.

    Should be a good read.

I walked the Kokoda trail many years ago when I was working in PNG, didn't have any Japs shooting at me though!
