FORMER Test captain Paul McLean has been inducted into the Wallaby Hall of Fame.

One of Queensland rugby's favourite sons, McLean is a member of the McLean dynasty, which produced seven internationals over three generations.

McLean, a goal-kicking five-eighth or fullback, made his Test debut at five-eigthth against the All Blacks at a 20-year-old at the SCG in 1974. His older brother Jeff was on the wing.

Over the next eight years McLean earned 31 Test caps, playing a key role in the rise of both Queensland and Australian rugby, compiling an impressive 260 points in his Test career, which was an Australian record whe he retired in 1982.

Along with Mark Loane and Tony Shaw, McLean became part of what was known in Queensland as the "Holy Trinity."

In charge of just one Test, McLean had a perfect record as Wallabies captain, leading the team to a 22-9 win against Fiji in 1980.

McLean has remained involved in the game, coaching Brisbane club Brothers for two years and serving as the president of the QRU and the ARU. He also spent two years on the IRB.
