    New PS3/Xbox rugby games

Due for release in late August for both consoles.

2011 world cup game and a rugby challenge game as well. Few Force screenshots on the rugby challenge website.

I pre ordered the world cup one today at EB games.

I'll get both and work out which one is better.

EA Sports are behind one of them through HB Studios?

The EA game will probably be the better version gameplay wise. Rugby Challenge looks good with more licences but from a smaller Studio

have been waiting YEARS for this, quite a few unanswered emails to EA Sports trying to find out when the next rugby game was coming out... Rugby 08 was such good value, many a quiet friday night in before a game having 08 competitions with the boys new games look the goods, hopefully it is easy for a newbie to pickup

Rugby Challenege is being developed by the same mob that developed the recent Rugby League game and AFL game.

The Rugby League game was 7 shades of shit and a few of my Fumbleball mates who picked up the AFL game say it was ordinary as well.

The screenshots look good, but in the previous game mentioned the scrennshots looked good it was the glitches in gameplay that sucked. Maybe they just honed their skills with the other two codes

Agree with Goony, Rugby 08 was great!

Nope, EA aren't involved at all, normally they work with HB but they aren't involved this time around, EA normally handle the funding/liscening/distribution aspect of it.

    Still the same designers though,

So the game will be by the same designers (HB Studios) as the last incarnation (Rugby 08) but minus EA involvement

Can't see that being much of a drama given Rugby 08 was pretty good. The only reason I stopped playing it was I upgraded to a PS3 and the version I got did not have the reverse capability

HB Studios game will be the better version IMO, although I notice they did not get the licences for Australia, NZ or SA and the Rugby Challenge by Sidhe did

The world cup will be the better game, gameplay wise anyway.

The NZ made game (challenge one) will have similar gameplay to that shit league game that came out.

I think though that the world cup one is just a world cup game and has no club teams in it.

The challenge one seems to have the club comps in it. Can't have the best of both worlds it seems.

Reading around, the world cup game doesn't even seem to have stitched up licensing with all the teams, some notable exceptions being the Wallabies and (I think) the All Blacks. That will mean the agony of playing with generic players which don't really match the actual team. It won't be much fun if I can't play Ma'a Nonu and smash Matt Giteau into next week.

Yep you're right there. Why couldn't we just have one good game instead of the two half arsed games that will come out.

One with all the right teams and shit game play, the other with important teams missing with the better game play.

Mmmmmm yeah, I don't know how important the game ay is to me though. The last game I played was rugby 2006 backward compatible on the 360. That means I'm pretty much happy watching a video with the controller in my hand.

Doubtfull the two companies would collaborate WRF given one is based in England and the other is based in Melbourne

Did some reading the other day and EA Sports were initially involved but are obviously no longer involved. Wonder if that might have something to do with the licence issue. Most nations gave licence for players and teams to HB Studioes, while Aus and NZ went with Sidhe.

Gigs the game is great when mates are around for a quiet night in with beers!

    Wow. That looks really good.
Do you reckon it's too late to ask them to put AJ Whalley as an unlockable character on the Force team?
I'd love to recreate that jumping try he scored at Subi. I still laugh today when GayFL players fall into the massive divot he left in the forward 50...
