JOC to be lured to Rebels?

THE financial muscle of Melbourne Rebels may help the Super Rugby new boys lure two of the brightest stars in Australia, Kurtley Beale and James O'Connor, to the Victorian capital.
The two are believed to be seriously considering offers from the Rebels.

It is understood the Rebels are also chasing Wallabies and Queensland Reds playmaker Quade Cooper, which would give them the "three amigos" of Australian rugby, but there is no suggestion at present that he is considering leaving Brisbane.

The lucrative third-party endorsements offered by the Melbourne business community could prove the difference with Beale and O'Connor.

Hmm mm those third party deals being negotiated before a contract is being signed........is that within the contracting protocols, because I'm sure the Force got stung for something like that.......also, organizing a lunch with the potential recruits and the third parties offering money COULD be seen as arranging a contract........I wonder if the ARU cares, or is it only when the Force do that that it's worthy of a fine?

Is that a rhetorical question? If you'll pardon the rhetorical question.

Slomo reckons Beale is on the way south, Rabbit would be nuts to try and fight it out with him and Cips when he's got a walk up start in a team where he'll get man of the match every week......the only issue would be if he doesn't think he can be developed by the coaching team.

I wasn't saying it was unlikely, just trying to cover all the bases, let's face it, if he can't get game time, he can't be a Wallaby

Yeah, but you add Quade to the mix and there isn't room for all the 200k's is there?

I can't imagine JOC going to a shithole like Melbourne to play on the wing

O'Connor is just as likely to stay in Perth as he is to go to Melbourne. He'd be as good friends with Pocock as he is with Beale.

Whether they get him or not they really need to redistribute those extra marquee spots. The Force and the Brumbies could struggle a bit next year otherwise.

Sometimes I think they should open the door to anyone in world rugby to join any team... as long each club stays within the salary cap... bit like fantasy rugby spend big on one and not have the money for others....
I personally feel JOC will go to the Rebels.... for his development as a prof. player be good for him

I really hope JO'C stays loyal. As has been said countless times, The Force were the only team to back this skinny young kid and have developed him beautifully.

Even in the modern era, I still believe in loyalty.

    Don't do it Rabbit!
