    Post Joondalup Ring the changes

Over the last few months Joondalup brothers have started to ring the changes , and yet once again they will be in the top 2 - 3 junior clubs with registrations around the 400 kids mark, the retention of under 18 (despite the poaching by false promises) and they will continue to have the under 16 and downwards with an average of 2 team per age group.

Changes to management with a strong management team in place at all levels , strong sponsorship with 10 major and minor sponsors on board some with 3 year contracts.

Changes to their website with a new joondalup brothers site established providing the club with direct email access

New Coaches on Board with the return of Jock Tiernan as Club Coach from overseas ( an ex Wanneroo first grade coach, Nedlands First grade coach) who has spent time overseas coaching in Thailand , Singapore and the UK , couple this with Arno Visser from Associates under 18 as the first team coach.

They are about to enter their Brand new clubrooms where they will share with the local Netball Girls and the Track and field.

With the first round of the competition out of the way , and having fielded 3 senior teams and under 18's they are striving to complete all of the requirements set down by the WARU something not all of the clubs within W.A. can achieve at this stage.

Congratulations to the club for all that it has achieved in the off season and good luck for the future

Nice to hear that Jock's back and involved in WA rugby after all these years.

    He'll certainly help Joondalup's profile.

From memory, he coached Nedlands to a premiership at one stage.

He was tied up with State Schoolboys or Juniors back in the 80's wasn't he?

Pretty sure you're right Burgs. He was also heavily involved with Wanneroo as a coach, and his son played for the Dogs as well. Useful player who did not go on with the game for some reason.

Jock then went to Nedlands where he coached for about three years, from memory, and then, through his Singapore Sevens connections when he was with the Dogs, he got a coaching position in Singapore.

He subequently went on to Thailand where, if I'm not mistaken, he was high up in the National coaching hierachy, if not the National coach.

As nice a bloke as a dour Scotsman can be, I suppose.

Yeah, remember him as a hard bastard.
As I recall took the Under 16's while we had John Robson for the U14's

Nice to see the memory has not gone with the years boys - don't forget the stint in the UK with a team starting in London 4 and ending in London 2 with the assistance of the current Nedlands Coach Tony Ball -

Now this is a good thread....

Jock was at the first junior training session last night at Iluka and was there for all age groups; specifically the under 11s as this is their 1st year of gold & swan. He has committed to spend time with all age groups along with the junior coaching coordinator to ensure players from under 6 through to under 16 get the support they need. This is a breath of fresh air for the club and all part of bringing the seniors & juniors together. He can be a bit grumpy though
