    NZ wins Adelaide Sevens

New Zealand won the Adelaide Sevens, the sixth leg of the 2010/11 HSBC Sevens World Series, beating South Africa 28-20 in the Cup final.

It is their fourth Cup win of the season and now leaves them 13 points ahead of England in the standings on 134 having picked up 24 points, with Samoa (100), South Africa (92) and Fiji (88) in third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Japan win the first silverware on day one beating Tonga 22-5 in the Shield final. USA beat Kenya 17-10 in the final of the Bowl to collect four Series points before Wales defeat Argentina 14-7 in a repeat of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 final.

Gordon Tietjens' side eased into the final, beating defending champions Samoa 33-17 in the semis thanks to Frank Halai's hat-trick after a 47-7 victory against Argentina in the first quarter-final on day one.

2011 USA Sevens champions South Africa beat England 19-0 in the second semi final with tries from Branco du Preez, Sibusiso Sithole and Tshotsho Mbovane following victory against Fiji in their quarter-final, a repeat of the Cup final in Las Vegas, coming from 12-0 down to win 24-14.

Tomasi Cama, who overtook Amasio Raomo as New Zealand's all time leading points scorer on day one, added a further 25 points on day two to take his all time tally to 1154 - the fifth highest of all time.

Earlier, World Series champions Samoa defeated hosts Australia 19-14 in the second quarter final despite trailing 14-7 at half time and England narrowly beat Wales 17-12 with a Ben Gollings penalty and Dan Norton's try saving tackle proving decisive.
