There was an article in The Australian saying that SANZAR will be chatting to the refs about that.

I'm sure someone already posted this somewhere (I actually thought it was this thread?) but from Pocock's twitter feed quoting du Plessis

its the friggen gator roll cleanout technique, i personally dispise it and refuse to use it or encourage it to be taught.

The issue with the technique is that it forces a players body to pivot, and as highlighted by Pococks leg, if a limb is caught then you risk serious ligament injury.
Not only at a professional level, but at amateur levels where players core muscle's aren't developed enough, you can risk causing serious back injury to a unsuspecting player.

I dont think the one done on Pocock was pre-meditated or intended to cause serious injury, but the reality is, for a player like Pocock pilfering the ball, the gator roll is the most effective way to clean the player out.

heh, seems like bam is getting that aggression going this season.

What i like about rugby is that this sort of stuff happens all the time. ie, the call up and apology. All the boys can have a beer together after the fact. It was on the field of play. it stays there.

The best way to stop a pilferer is to 'break the glass', ie, get between his arms, which breaks his contact with the ball. Then the clearing is the lift one leg, which causes them to over balance, and, "down i go".

Thats a good method, but so are these wrestling moves. Possibly something officials should be looking into for the future of the game. Your certainly not bound to the ruck if you can flip other players over your head. But its also possible the rules need to evolve.

    Time will tell.

you cannot watch a game and not see someone pulled off of a ruck using there head.
The point is that Poey could have easily avoided injury had his neck not been held in a lock. He could have allowed his body to fall to the left, thus avoiding lateral movement of his right knee.

Ok so what I don't understand is how that doesn't get reviewed after the match? They do have match review right? That kind of tactic, premeditated or not, isn't legal in rugby law I am sure, right? Very strange indeed!!

Just looking at the video again. What about the #4 coming in with an attempted shoulder charge to Pocock and missed???
