New deal to sink Belmont stadium

Apparently a similar deal was shot down a few years ago by the Swan River Trust so the deal with the developer may not be a "done deal" just yet

But my question is if these orientials are going to spend this much coin on belmont park why cant we have the multi purpose 50,000 seat stadium in the middle of the race track,

Possibly because that might make it a little difficult for the punters to see their money going around the back straight.

That is, unless they don't build any grandstands and we all just stand on the ground in the infield drinking piss and don't bother with the game. A bit like the punters on the flat at the Melbourne Cup.
