The Queensland Reds have announced a major new sponsorship deal with a world renowned company that is a leader in its field – mirroring the objectives on the Reds in 2011.
Volvo Cars is now an Elite Sponsor with the Reds including sleeve branding rights. The deal follows a successful 2010 sponsorship agreement with Volvo on a local level.
Reds Head Coach, and Volvo driver, Ewen McKenzie said they were very pleased that Volvo, an innovative motoring company known for cutting edge design and ground breaking technology, recognised the value of the Reds in the Super Rugby competition.
“Volvo Cars is a dynamic and innovative brand. The Reds value all those things and we hope to translate our approach to a winning year in 2011 with Volvo Cars on the team. Volvo Cars is a highly respected, global brand and a market leader in its field – something Queensland Rugby and the Reds aspire to be.”
The deal with Volvo Cars means that it will not only be partnering with The Reds in Super Rugby but also have major involvement in other levels of the game.
Volvo Car Australia’s Greg Bosnich said the company embraced the opportunity to become heavily involved in the Code. “Rugby is a great fit for Volvo Cars. Our association with Queensland Rugby and the Reds is an exciting one that will see Volvo Cars partner with not only the Reds but importantly connect with rugby at the grassroots community level.”
The deal includes naming rights to the Queensland Referees and the Queensland Schoolboys Open Championships as well as the Queensland Schoolboys Team.
McKenzie said Volvo Cars and Queensland Rugby both have a loyal supporter base with Volvo owners embracing the ‘Volvo for Life’ philosophy while Queensland supporters were definitely ‘Reds for Life.’
