Poe you did a stellar job son... And hodgo what little time you had on the field you showed your quality.. Such a pity we have such a wealth of tearaways these days... Someone invent some grow pills and feed them to hodgo so he can get taller and become the lock we need how cool would that be if we could have on our run on side poe, hodgo, mccalman and brown dog all in position.

It wouldn't surprise me if McCalman became a lock in 2012 after Sharpe retires from playing and takes up the job as head coach.

I'm not sure about McCalman playing lock - OK for Super 15, but he's a bit short for a lock at international level, where you tend to want them 200cm. McCalman's only 192cm. Elsom's 197cm, but I can't see him moving to lock. I'd leave McCalman at 8, for the Force, because that's where he'd play for the Wallabies, probably fighting Higginbotham for game-time. BTW, I just noticed Higginbotham's from Perth - any chance he'll come home?

I think he's been in Queensland since he was a teenager so I doubt it. I wouldn't rule it out though. He'd be a great player to have.

Brown is still the number 3 openside in the country - after Pocock and Hodgo.

And the fact that he can play 6, 7 and 8 will be vital - he will provide a great bench option for the Wallabies, and when he comes on with 20 to go, his lack of size wont count against him but his workrate will definitely count for him. He certainly has a future in the Wallabies.

Many are suggesting that McCalman is not physical enough either. Yes he doesnt make as many tackles as Elsom and Pocock, or the yards of Palu, but I think he certainly adds to the team, and given he is only young, he will get better at this. Not to mention he also has a huge work rate and this will be of benefit.

Having said all that, I can see Palu regaining his spot when fit. Palu is huge and offers us the go forward that we need from our forwards. At the moment, the only real players that regularly get the ball over the gain line with three guys hanging off of them are Sharpe and Pocock. Palu fits well into this team. Higgenbotham is the other contender, but from what I have seen in the Super 14s, he plays a very open game and is more like a centre than a loose forward.

I like McCalmans running lines. He always hits up hard and fast... He may not make the advantage line everytime, but he always is aggresive, i dont think there is much mongrel in the pack, and he adds the aggression without the anger. He has vigor (dead-set).

He has MUCH MUCH better ball handling skills than Palu. Can you imagine, we get our wrecking ball... only to drop it, have a scrum, give away a penalty, give away 3 points, or a yellow... etc...

Palu is good at running hard... But shit man, dead-set he needs to hold the pill harder than a bulimic holds onto their lunch....
