There's a bit of that in the 4th book "Bootsie and the tourists" when Bootsie and his school mates get more than they bargained for when a visiting overseas school plays against his school 'All Kings'.

The boys from the very prim and proper 'Charlton Hall' don't turn out to be so prim and proper on the rugby field.

Some passages from the book....

They might have been from a school with a reputation as one of the poshest and most prestigious schools in all of their country but on the field they were an ugly team. From the opening whistle it was on, eye gouging, studs being used in the rucks, loose punches in back play being thrown and general rough and dirty play. “So this is how you beat the boys at Bluedale is it?” Bootsie said to himself as he wiped some blood from his nose, the result of a high tackle.

The Charlton Hall boys were pretty good in the wet conditions as well and the score line became All Kings 3, Charlton Hall 14 at half time. “Boys don’t let them keep up this dirty game and do nothing about it, now I’m not saying you have to start punching them like they are but stand up for yourselves and the school a bit and stick it back to them” said the Coach at half time who wasn’t happy about the supposed good willed nature of the friendly inter school game. His players had come into the dressing room like they had been in a losing battle, and they had another half to go yet.

It was soon hard to tell which team was which when the game restarted, the boys were so muddy it looked like 30 boys from one team were on the field. The Charlton Hall boys didn’t let a bit of rain stop their rough house tactics and after receiving it for the entire first half and then some a fight broke out and most of the boys from both teams were involved. It actually fixed the problem because when it was stopped the referee spoke to both captains and the game became a lot less dirty, in the rules of the game sense anyway, in the weather sense it was still filthy.
