WA Schoolboys With Work To Do

Western Australia’s Division 1 squad competing at the Australian Schools Championships in Brisbane will be hoping for a better slice of luck in coming matches after facing a rampant NSW II side in their opening encounter.

The New South Welshmen ran in 10 tries to nil on their way to posting a massive 71 points. It was a tough introduction for WA who graduated to the Division 1 Championships after being runners-up in Division 2 last year.

In other matches NSW I also started strongly with an eight try 55-13 victory over Victoria.

Queensland II kept the Combined States scoreless in their 28-0 win, while Queensland I, seeking their fifth-straight Australian Schools title, came out on top in a hard fought match against the ACT 31-15.

Play resumes at Ballymore on Thursday with Queensland taking on WA, NSW II facing ACT, NSW I tacking Combined States and Queensland II will wrap up the day’s play against Victoria.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...
