West Subiaco upsetting the apple cart with gutsy win over Nedlands

West has caused a major upset by being only the second team after Cottesloe to beat Nedlands this year. the final score being 19-17.



West was sure contenders for the wooden spoon after loosing their first 3 games of the season going down to Nedlands 39-6 in round 3. Beating Bayswater in round 4 lifted them from the dreaded last place in the competition. From there it was a mixed "ding dong" season for the young squad with a loss against Soaks then beating Rockingham. West just could not pull it together and lost 2 games in a row against Wanneroo and Cottesloe. West ended round one of the competition with a well deserved win over Kalamunda.

West started round 2 with a brilliant performance beating Uni and narrowly loosing against Palmyra.

Wests fully deserved their victory.Neddies had a few key players missing,but that was no excuse.Poor handling,passing,kicking & especially tackling by Nedlands led to their demise.Wests took advantage of that,scored a couple of tries & their kicker slotted everything.
Neddies scored in the last minute(again)but the conversion,to snare a draw,was wide.
Nedlands have to get back to basics & learn to do the simple things right.Their skill errors,especially in the backs,were at times appalling.

Neddies, I am told have looked ordinary in the past 3 games - were right for the picking and Wests plucked them well. 2 important games coming up - against Cott & Soaks I believe. Will be the making or death of their season.
