McCALMAN OUT TO CONTINUE SUPER 14 FORM

Versatile Emirates Western Force young gun Ben McCalman is looking to take the momentum he gained in his first Super 14 season into tonight's clash against England when he lines up for the Australian Barbarians.

As captain, Elsom's name may be first on the team sheet, but the four Force back-rowers are making a good case for themselves already. Pocock and Brown played well against Fiji and Hodgo and McCalman outshone Hoiles for me last night.

McCalman showed that we have a bit of depth coming through in the next couple of years. Another good developing year of Super Rugby and he should be a serious contender for the world cup squad next year IMHO. Bit of a pity that he will either be playing out of position at Lock or sitting on the bench behind our other back rowers next year.

Cummins did well in defence a couple of times coming out of the line to lay a big tackle on and shutting down the English attack. But on attack he fumbled the ball a few times when the try line was begging, well at least that’s what it looked like from the poor camera view angles that they displayed.

You are right, that is what happened. Needs a haircut.
