Leinster v Ospreys: 2010 Magners League Final Preview

Shown live on Setanta Sunday 01.15 hours

So after a season of hard slog, excitement and disappointment, the Magners League is preparing for its very first Grand Final. The play-off system has been very well received by players, coaches and pundits alike, as the system has ensured that the interest, and the intensity of the season continues right up to the last tackle, evidenced in the fact that six teams were battling it out for a play-off spot, going into the last weekend of the normal league season.

The two sides that have emerged as the cream of the crop from this years Magners League are Irish and Welsh giants, Leinster and Ospreys. The two sides came through their respective semi-finals relatively unscathed, and will turn their attention to the historic clash at Leinster's RDS on 29th May.

With home advantage Leinster will fancy their chances, and have already beaten their final opponents at home this season. A victory for the Dublin province would see them steal more than just Munster's league title, as they seek to become the dominant side in Ireland. Their 16-6 victory against their fierce enemies in the semi-final, saw them complete an unbeaten season against the Munstermen, who have now lost to Leinster four times on the trot.

Their opponents from across the Irish Sea will, however, definitely have something to say about Leinster claiming their third league title in 8 seasons. The Ospreys are starting to build a siege mentality, after suffering a points deduction over a cancelled game against Ulster earlier in the season, which has led to Head Coach Sean Holley believing the world is against his side. This sort of 'everyone hates us, but we don't care' attitude has the capability to forge a fearsome side, and one that Leinster should be fearful of.
