I would suggest that what Clubland might do is instead of whinge about how many more players the PSA bloods for future recruiting and how many more fixtures the PSA gives officials opportunities for experience, that perhaps they should take the initiative and build a direct partnership with their closest PSA school so as to gain loyalty and build their ranks.

Hmm..When I played colts for Kala in the 80's most weekends we had to go down to Guildford Grammar to pick up a couple of boarders to make numbers up. These days though with Midland in the mix, Mazenod me thinks would be about the only other private school within cooee that plays/has played union? Dare I say it that it would be worse for ARKS, Rockingham?

Could well be the case Andrew, but in this instance at least it appears to be the Inner West Clubs that aren't making up the numbers.

In Rocko, there are a lot of players who wear Kolbe kit and hang around the club. I haven't dealt with the kids in this age group, so I don't know how many of those kids play club.

Not many Rocko rugby kids show up wearing PSA uniforms or kit though (I'd expect there to be some who turn up to watch brothers/sisters, hang around a club with thier mates etc.

I know this means absolutely nothing, but it's my impression from the grassroots.

ps got the word last night that the only junior Rocko team that won this round was my boys from last year.......shit I wish MiniGIGS was still playing!

He's been recruited by the Nedlands Yoof Development Academy!

He forwent rugby this year in favour of Tennis, which a mate of his started and has now stopped, and Air rifles with the PCYC.

He also said he was sick of his legs hurting (I assume from being smashed into by hulking great Paly players)

We're still waiting for the recruiting department from Nedlands to contact us, I assume it's all about changing our address since last season....they'll find him in time to parachute into their finals team I'm sure.

(I'm told the by-laws encourage such a move)
