If it makes the local comp better then bring in more imports.

It'll lift the playing ability of our local players when they play alongside better players anyway.

It does suck for a player who gets shafted back to second grade though but life is tough so get over it.

That is, has he dropped his Academy contract?
I'm fairly sure he's dropped his Academy contract, because he was getting frustrated at not being played.

He has tonnes of potential , and is physically superior to many - unfortunately he's obviously aware of it and thinks he deseves "better" ..... if only he had learnt the art of patience, he may have been rewarded in what has been a volatile season at the Force.

Yep, that's exactly what I have heard from certain people.

Tough shit, though. He should be thankful he's been given opportunities, rather than chucking tantrums.

Flip lost his contract and moved back to Queesland to be near his family and play rugby for his local club there.

He left on excellent terms with Palmyra though, and promised to return to play for us in the finals, under the Cottesloe Exemption.

    Paly defence

    Fulvio

You always make comments as to how clubs accept/reject players- on what basis??

From experience outside of Perth, very few, if any clubs, have reject new players. You assume much, make statements- lots without much evidence!!!!!.

When last did Paly compete/win @ colts level? Do you know what goes on @ schools & PSA Rugby?

If you see yourself as a sage/expert of sorts, be aware of what goes on in the rugby circles.

By all means be a passonate Paly supporter, but don't bag other clubs on heresay or rumour!!

    2010.

seeing as our 20s and 18s teams both have a strong contingency of psa players pot calling the kettle back?

FS i said I was aware that Paly are not the only club and probably no where near the biggest offender but there have been a number of posts this year about U18 and U20's changing clubs en-mass and a shortage of front row stocks etc and that is a sympton of importing. Once guys get a better offer or decide to join a club where they can get a fair go then they will leave. The club gets nothing out of it. If Paly are truly in a good spot then good on them, but a dependence on imports is not good for any club.
You have still named 6 players coming over from NZ to join the 1st grade and that is a lot.
A win a all costs attitude is detrimental to clubs, player development and WARU. How many posts came out slamming Cott about bringing in Force players for the final! Same thing applies.
I played a number of seasons in the Perth comp in the 90's and loved it. I thought the skills, grounds and passion were better than the ACT or NSW subbies comps. It would be a shame to see that messed up because of a rush to professionalism that most clubs can't afford.

I have been saying for ages...limit imports to 2 per club premiership team, just like S14.

How do you define an 'import' There are players who move clubs, move cities, countries for a variety of reasons. While it is still amateur @ club land it would be very very difficult to control. People still need to have freedom of choice as to where they wish to play. I understand your intentions but would not see them working in reality.

I think all that would have to come down to the collective will of the Clubs to dedicate to development, an ideal that I doubt even the greatest mediator could achieve!

I note the size of your brain Mr Homer J.

Does it relate to the size of any other parts of your body?
