FORCE ACADEMY SET FOR HIT-OUT WITH PREMIERS

The Emirates Western Force Academy will get some game time under their belts this weekend when they play a trial against reigning KWIK Senior Competition Premiers, Cottesloe, at Harvey Field on Saturday

The game will provide an opportunity for the likes of Josh Tatupu, Haig Sare, Mark Swanepoel and Stefano Hunt to push for selection in the Emirates Western Force squad as they play alongside up-and-comers such as Australian Schools flyhalf Kyle Godwin, Australian Barbarians prop Cruze Ah-Nau and 18 year old flanker Ted Postal, who was on stand-by for a Force debut during the week had Luke Jones not been deemed fit to play against the Waratahs.

Cottesloe will field an extended squad in their first trial of the pre-season.

The Academy side to play Cottesloe 1pm at Harvey Field is:

    1. Cruze Ah-Nau (Kalamunda)
    2. Mark Cornell ( Wests Subicao)
    3. JP Pradaud ( Associates)
    4. Kyle Howard ( UWA)
    5. Bruce Smith –Wright (UWA)
    6. Ben Hales (Associates)
    7. Ted Postal (UWA)
    8. Jack Ball (Palmyra)
    9. Mark Swanepoel (Cottesloe)
    10. Kyle Godwin (Associates)
    11. Conrad Gillingham (Kalamunda)
    12. Stefano Hunt (Associates)
    13. Josh Tatupu (Kalamunda)
    14. Heremia Te Aute (Wests Subiaco)
    15. Haig Sare (Nedlands)

    Res: Justin Turner ( Associates)

Be good to watch. In 5 years it wouldn't surprise to see half these guys in the Force senior squad.

I understood that at a recent meeting of clubs Rugby WA agreed to delete club associations from its website for WF squad members. Old habits die hard obviously.

Mr Swimming Pool is still around I see. Wonder if his side-kick Browney is running out for Cott.

Can Haig Sare play for the academy when he's 28?

This should have been a curtain raiser to the Force game

    This ain't Queensland, TOCC.

There are far better players in clubland than there are in the Academy.

And before you ask, it's because those players don't qualify to play for the Force, and therefore there is no benefit having them in the Academy.

there is a free stream of the club GF last year somewhere..by the same guys that broadcast the force v reds preseason game. Before bagging Cott I'd say you should watch the quality of the players... Pretty handy team that

100-0 to academy, if you can call it an academy. They should take Tatapu, Sare and Swanepool out to make the game half decent. Or they will get 3 trys each.

what are you trying to say, that there are kiwis and south africans playing club rugby that are of a higher quality then the force academy?

regardless, it doesnt stop the fact that if they want a competitive match it would need to be at least against a combined premier grade team. I will be surprised if the Academy dont put on 60 points or more, then you have to question the benefit of such a match.

The answers is yes, and Brits and Cook Islanders and Fijians and others.

Putting a composite side together to help RugbyWA at the moment would probably be very difficult, the clubs I have spoken to are mightily pissed off with the cronyism and insider dealings that go on there, and don't feel they owe or are inclined to do RugbyWA any favours.

About the only clubs likely to cooperate with them are the beneficiaries of RugbyWA's largesse, and you only need to look at the Academy player list to work out who they are.

And of course Cottesloe, who were given the 2009 premiership by RugbyWA.

Yes I know,I'm bitter, and so are many others, but I don't like cheats, and there are some things in life that are so low and dispicable that you can't forgive and forget. This is going to be around for a long, long time.

choosing such a side would be a selection for a representative side, if clubs in WA are about to stop a player from chasing higher honours then there is seriously something wrong in the WA rugby community.

It's easy to be sanctimonious from where you sit, TOCC.
