merit won't see Cummins or Hill in there, that would be reputation.

Agreed but Cummins was too soon, and Hill (I like him heaps) hasn't been playing at this level for a while. That's gotta be rep rather than form.

Cummins had a bad night.... it happens to everyone! besides i didnt see him get much ball anyway...

if the guy has been off for 6 months and there are no club games to condition him why would the next game be so much better that this one?
if hes not ready now he wont be ready in two weeks

whereas he played a good period of time this week and got some feel for the plays and the new guys around him. Next game WILL be better...

actually come to think of it there were a few people that were skeptical of him when he first joined .. i remember him being a bench warmer for ages until he spellbound everyone with some awesome plays...

I will say what irked me watching the game was OConnors total lack of commitment to contact.. if there is an easy tackle he goes hard but if there is a big flanker or 6"3' Donald running at him he tries to grapple tackle and almost always ends up on his arse and the opposition running over the top of him... it happened at least 4 times on Saturday.. Reminded me of Breyton Paulse, he used to do the same thing.. the ONLY way he and other smaller guys can take down the big men is to chop them off at the knees.. Take a lesson from Sheehan or Genia.. now they can tackle! /end rant

A bit surprising because he's not lacked courage when defending in the line in past seasons. Hopefully it's just a technical thing and a bit of attention from the coaches can sort it out.
