    ok as requested by No.8

The words to the Katherine (NT) Lions Rugby Union Football Club

Sung to the tune of United States of America Marine Corps "the Hills of monte zooma" (or something like that)
Also the same tune as the Adelaide Crows Australian Rules Football Club.

But the words are a little different.

On the North Shores of Antartica
Where the yanks have never been
Lies the body of a f*cken great Polar Bear
Shagged to death by a Rugby Team

    Chorus
We are the perverts of society
The likes of us you've never seen
We are a pack of loud mouth bastards
We are the Lions Rugby team

Well we dont climb any mountains
And we dont cross any streams
    We dont have pretty girlfriends
We just live off our wet dreams

    Chorus

    Well we have a reputation
    For molesting little boys
    Abusing old age pensioners
    And stealing kiddies toys

    Chorus

my apologies for any offence taken from the words of this song, it is a rugby song and should be treated as such.

Haha - sounds like something that would come from the NT.

All apologies to any Bob Dylan fanatics out there but here's my attempt at a song for during the match (as oppossed to the "club song" comp going on).
For lyric comparison I have left the Dylan Original first line and the Burgarised Adaption second line. Much easier in Word where they are different colours!

    Chearin’ on the Wing.

How many roads must a man walk down
How many tries must a Half touch down

Before you call him a man?
Before you call him a man?

Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Yes, ‘n’ how many tees must a Five Eighth nail

Before she sleeps in the sand?
Before he is safe from the Stand?

Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Yes, ‘n’ how many times must our Cannon boy try

    Before they're forever banned?
    Before he’s given a hand?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer, my friend, is chearin’ on the wing,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.
The answer is chearin’ on the wing.

How many times must a man look up
How many times must Sharpey jump up

Before he can see the sky?
Before he can touch the sky?

Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Yes, ‘n’ how many gears must Stapleton have

Before he can hear people cry?
Before he can hear the crowds cry?

Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
Yes, ‘n’ how many tackles will it take till Junior knows

That too many people have died?
That too many players have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer, my friend, is chearin’ on the wing,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.
The answer is chearin’ on the wing.

How many years can a mountain exist
How many beers can the front row wrist

Before it's washed to the sea?
Before they’re washed to the sea?

Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Yes, ‘n’ how many beers can the “Blue Army” wrist

Before they're allowed to be free?
    Before they really break free?

Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Yes, ‘n’ how many times can the Man turn his head,

    Pretending he just doesn't see?
    Pretending he just doesn’t see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer, my friend, is chearin’ on the wing,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.
The answer is chearin’ on the wing.

One suggestion, a more or less American thing:

Grab yourself an intelligent-looking fan of the opposing team (and maybe the opposing sex, if you're single) at the pub after the game, and buy them a drink. Then, proceed to discuss the match, and get their opinions. If you all do that, you can maybe arrive at a concensus about the other team's fans and maybe change your views on the map, if their views are good.

    G'day Chief,
There's a few different Dylan sound clips found at http://bobdylan.com/songs/blowin.html
The more up beat version from the "Before the Flood" clip would be my suggestion for a starting point.
Variations could be to take all "names" out. Such as our Cannon boy for our back row, Sharpey for a lock, Stapleton for a winger, Junior knows for our Centres know. That way probably less important if the "name" is playing on a given day.

Due to the lack of input and the rapidly approaching season I'll hog the thread and suggest the following:
I'm a big supporter of the concept of supporting your team through thick and thin (see earlier post in this thread) regardless of the scoreline. I would like to see the Force supporters develop into a world class crew who can show support for our team even when they lose. One way would be to adopt a song along the lines of "You'll Never Walk Alone" for the crowd to sing on our defeats rather than the terrible hollow silence of a home crowd loss. Imagine the lift that our boys would get knowing that following the dissapointment of a home loss and going into a week of hard training and a road trip that their supporters still thought that they "were alright". Also imagine the bewilderment from the opposition going off the paddock with all these mad Subiaco Force supporters who still cheer and sing for their team in defeat!
I am more than happy to adopt any such appropriate song that is suggested but the one that came to mind was "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers. I'm sure you'll all know it from radio etc but here are the lyrics and link to a sound bite. http://www.billwithersmusic.com/html...neLeanOnMe.mp3

    Lean on Me

    Bill Withers

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
    We all have sorrow
    But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    'Til I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

    Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
    That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    'Til I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
    That you can't carry
    I'm right up the road
    I'll share your load
    If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    Till I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

Sounds good Burgs. I wish more NSW supporters were like that. Some of us have booed our own team in the past (as recently as this year).

We have song sheets where we sing the chorus of a song but have the words changed. I'd recommend doing a few of those and handing them out before the game. We did exactly that at subi for the international and it was responsed to fairly well.

I'm with you on this - I think you will probably need to pass it on to the powers that be as they have the ability to contact all the members, or you could keep it as a grass roots movement which will make it a bit slower to take on, but have much more meaning when it does.
