Deans 'licks his lips' at AFL players

Deans 'licks his lips' at AFL players (sounds like he's cruising gay bars)

Australian rugby chief John O'Neill has admitted Super 14 clubs have their eyes out for a possible poaching mission into the AFL's playing ranks, with Wallabies coach Robbie Deans apparently "licking his lips" at the prospect of pinching one of football's finest.

With rugby league still reeling from the defection of Karmichael Hunt to the AFL's new Gold Coast franchise, the new Super Rugby franchise in Melbourne has already gone on the record saying they would consider a swoop into the AFL.

O'Neill agreed some of AFL's taller athletes would fit comfortably into the back of a scrum or a line-out of a Super 14 club, but obviously not as well with Andrew Demetriou.

Yeah, all that snow can give you a runny nose all right.

Bur seriously, if some of the Mungo converts have had trouble learning the patterns in Rugby, what chance have those AFL bogans?

Where else would you find an AFL player? How else would you convince them to make a 'code-switch'?

Seriously though, not an awful idea if the AFL player is under 21. Nick Evans (former Highlanders and Blues fly-half) was a very good 10/15 with an excellent kicking game and he used to play for NZ AFL sides- was even offered a trial with the Sydney Swans. I don't think you could have an AFL backrower though.

Interesting thought...most AFL guys are about 6'2-6'5 nowadays, extremely fit and athletic (massive vertical leaps).

Mike Pyke went from rugby to AFL, no reason to think it won't happen the other way.

Could be massive publicity for Melbourne to swipe an AFL star...Ben Cousins perhaps?

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

Melbourne are the only ones who can. Which begs the question; would Pyke (or any other international) be eligible for other franchises if he stays long enough to gain residence?
