    We got Gits... WOOHOO...

$4.5 mill over 3 years... small price to pay in my opinion really. He is an exciting prospect for us and will be essential for our growth over the next 3 years.

All I hope for is that Connelly picks players on their form and not their location relative to NSW. That way, our wallabies get to play for Australia and dont get relegated to the backblocks just for chosing to move west.

See, its not about the money - the 4.5 million is just a bonus

I think that you will find that Mitchell is not on our radar any more. I read somewhere last week that the Force are more than happy with Shephard at Fullback and will not be trying to recruit Mitchell.

I agree that Kanaar,Giteauand Tawake are necessary additions. Tawake to rotate with Fava , Kanaar in second row rotation. But who drops out for Giteau ? HILGY ? STANIFORTH ? GRAHAM ? These guys have deserved their place! Remember that McKay & Pelasasa return as well.

Still, can't look a gift horse in the mouth (Giteau from ARU), but barring injuries like this year, how do they all fit? Shepherd would be filthy if DMitchell lobs in Perth for the fullback spot - as would Reds as CLatham is inreasingly injury prone and gone past 30 yrs.

I've raised the question of club loyalty before - meaning club loyalty to the players who've upped stumps for the inaugural year at Force.

The second year team could take on a very different shape and dynamic if all the mentioned players sign on!

Exactly! Jimmy can cover Fullback if Shepherd is unavailable. I reckon we got a couple of others too. Definately don't need Drew Mitchell. The Reds DO! I woulda been happy if we just got Ryan Cross and kept developing our own squad. With a half decent run injury wise it's a great backline. I want Stanners to stay at 12 no matter who we get. He's been an absolute revelation there. I'm not saying I'm not in favour of Giteau if he can attract others I suppose, but I certainly would not have been wringing my hands in despair if he's said no and Cross said yes. And he still may.

Hilgendorf has proved himself to be the ultimate bench player (although deserving of a start every week) by excelling at several positions. With Gits on board, Mitch may even toy with not having a Reserve Half, risky but huge if no injuries. And likewise McIsaac and Pusey are gold in the forwards by being capable of playing in a couple of positions.

Western Force potential backline in 2007:
    9. Henjak
    10. MacKay
    11. Ioane
    12. Giteau
    13. Pelesasa (Ryan Cross)
    14. Staniforth
    15. Shepherd
    20. O'Young
    21. Hilgendorf
    22. Graham (Pelesasa)

Giteau in Perth for five years

Giteau in Perth for five years

Although unofficial, this is huge news for the Force and recruiting power as well!
