Wallabies lineout was ordinary early but got better. We had their scrum in all sorts of dramas. Our backs moved the ball well and it could have easily been a couple of more tries on the board. All in all pretty happy with the start. Incidentally wtf was with the ref in the first half? It seemed like he went in at the half and looked at some of his decisions and came out a different man. Or was it just me?

Surely the coaching staff have the use of video?? What are we doing/not doing compared to the ABs who, with or without the Harry Potter Cloak, do not get the same ping rate?

Is it coaching - or friendly chatting to the Ref (which seems to be becoming a key role of Captains) which will make the difference?

I still think there's an element of inevitability which comes from preconcieved perceptions. I can think of no other way Richie McCaw can get away with what he gets away with.....the entire country lauds him as the cleanest and best number 7 in the World, so when the ref has an inkling that there might be a problem, he gets the benefit of the doubt. Most other 7s won't receive the same largesse. If Burgher or Botha is in a ruck, and somebody comes flying out the other side holding their arm, shoulder or whatever, what do you immediately assume has happened.

Refs are only human.....they just need to realise the AllBlacks exist on the same plane of reality as the rest of us and the ledger will soon balance.
