Paul Croghan died after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday night. He was fifty one.
Paul was an institution at Palmyra.
He played his junior rugby there, progressed through a successful colts career and went on to play first grade for the club for many years.
He then went on to play lower grade rugby, was involved in coaching juniors, and was a key figure in the Palmyra based Silverados Golden Oldies team with which he toured extensively overseas.
He was also a driver of Palmyra's involvement over many years in the Singapore Sevens tournament.
Paul was a Committee member of the Palmyra Junior Club, a committee member and prolific contributor to the Senior Club and a long standing Board Member of the Tompkins Park Community and Recreational Association Inc which controls and manages the facilities at Tompkins Park. He also played a significant part in securing the construction of those facilities.
In his professional life Paul was a school master at Christian Brothers' College for many years as well as at other colleges. In later years he embraced electronic technology at an early stage and was involved in operating internet and communications businesses.
Paul was married to Cathy and has two children, a son and a daughter. His son is known to you all here as the poster PRUC.
Paul fell ill playing a social game of Touch on Wednesday night, and died at home later that evening.
He was due to have his life membership of Palmyra voted upon at the Club's AGM on the 15th November.
I think he'll get it.
