RUGBY SEVENS VOTE - RUGBY NEEDS YOU!

On Friday, October 9, the IOC will vote on whether to include Rugby Sevens in the 2016 Olympic Games programme.

As part of its final push, the RUPA is urging the global rugby family to get behind the campaign and register its support in a poll running on online Olympic publication www.insidethegames.biz. The poll can be found on the right hand side of the home page.

The results of the poll will be published on Thursday in the lead up to the IOC vote and ahead of the IRB's final presentation to the 106 IOC members at its Session in Copenhagen. Please register your vote today and forward this email to fellow members of the Rugby family, friends and colleagues.

    Kind Regards

Kind of a moot point for most of those sports since only two are up for vote...

I think Softball and Baseball shot themselves in the foot by insisting on being two seperate submissions. They could have easily argued the male and female of the same basic sport and got back in as "one" sport.
Golf is listed in order of merit for mine.

    It's still at least
    Rugby 81.1%
    Other 18.9%
With Rugby potentially picking up some of the "Other" on a two sport preffered.

Golf's getting hammered by Softball and Squash ATM, pretty reasonable IMHO

Just don't really see them as fitting the Olympic mould.
Have got the X Games for all that kind of stuff.

I'm amazed that golf's even trying to get in to the Olympics. Would the best golfers rather win a major or Ryder Cup or the Olympic title? It's like tennis - who remembers Olympic tennis champions?

Chuck out tennis and soccer (they've got the World Cup) and put in Rugby 7s, squash and karate.

They'll never get rid of soccer cos they make 25% of their profits from it.

You might have to give us a reference for that stat, beige.

I suppose it's possible due to the number of spectators you get to soccer matches, but I'd have thought most of the income came from TV and the Olympics usually co-incide with the start of the soccer season in Europe, so I'd be surprised if there was that level of interest. Still - it does you good to be surprised occasionally.

The cheerleaders got screwed. This much support and they weren't even included in the vote.

The majority does come from TV.

    Olympic Marketing Revenues

I'm not sure which sports get the most viewers or bring in the most revenue, but I would have guessed that Track and Field events would bring in the most $$ for the summer games.
