Australia coach Robbie Deans says the Wallabies will be looking to go from strength to strength after their 21-6 win over the Springboks in the Tri-Nations Test in Brisbane at the weekend.
The Wallabies handed the Boks their first defeat of the series and put to an end a troubling period in which they suffered four successive defeats.
Speaking at the post match press conference, Deans said the key to derailing the Springboks was to force them out of their kick and chase approach.
"We took them outside their comfort zone where we hadn't been able to achieve that previously," Deans said.
"We moved the ball and forced the Springboks to come forward and defend and their missed tackles were indicative of how we were able to create one-on-one situations and isolate the Springbok defenders.
"That forced them to play in a way that they hadn't had to. The boys kept playing for 80 minutes. We had three tries disallowed, but the guys kept coming.
"I think it was evident at the end that some of the belief and confidence was starting to kick in, there was certainly some great spirit on display.
Deans said the gutsy win was a turning point for the young squad and they will now strife to build on their success with another strong performance against New Zealand next weekend.
"For a young group that's a step we've been looking for.
"Without a doubt this win will be a fillip for the side, that was evident in the last 10 minutes," he said.
“But as is the case in Test rugby at this level and in this competition when you are playing amongst the best three teams in the world, you have to get up and earn the right every time you hit the ground.
"We have a fantastic opportunity left in this competition in Wellington to show that there is some permanence around the way we play and that's what we will be looking to do."
