    Grumbles latest shit.

    Ruck and maul

    Greg Growden | August 28, 2009

PERTH is under serious threat of being cut from the Test calendar, as Subiaco Oval appears doomed as a future Tri Nations venue. It is known the Australian Rugby Union is seriously considering moving Tests away from Perth because of spectator aversion towards Subiaco – with complaints of it being too far away from the action. Also, the level of local interest in tomorrow's Springbok Test is close to zilch, commanding scant local media coverage, with the focus instead on tonight's AFL match at Subiaco between West Coast and Richmond, when Ben Cousins returns town. Brisbane will be the winner here

Blah blah. I doubt he even flew over for this week's game. Last year he went to the signing thing, sadly not this year
His standards are slipping, I'd be more concerned about that than the fact that Subi is the same this year as it was last year.

No quotes from any of the two 'sauces' (named or unnamed). Common knowledge about 'spectators aversion'.... Another bit of column filler chaff blah blah blah.

Eventscorp (an arm of the WA State Government) signed a 3 year contract to bring International Rugby to Perth, in the contract it is stated that the teams to play are South Africa (2008,2009) and England (2010). I would imagine that if the ARU tries to take next years Test away from Perth it would be subject to whatever breach of contract is applicable

Ireland will play next year, to be sure. But if there are only 30 - 35,000-odd for Tri Nations the Eastern States Unions will have a reason to pressure for a change. Bank on it. Even @ an average $50 a seat that would represent a shortfall somewhere around half a million on previous years.

PS. Noticed in the fine print
    ■ In the TV world, SBS is interested in showing next year's Six Nations, while the Ten Network is pushing hard to again cover Wallabies Tests.

Last I heard on Wednesday night it that 9,000 tickets were still available to the game tomorow night, making pre-sales at about 34,000

Those quotes you put up regarding TV rights are interesting, especially if Channel 10 got a hold of the Wallabies Tests given that Saturday night when Test Rugby is on is also C10's night to show the AFL

But then it comes back to Anti-Siphoning laws stating that an event must be shown on the "standard" channel before showing the event on any seperate Digital channels

So how is ABC HD showing Shute Shield games?

Also how is one HD showing all the Netball, baseball etc that aren't making it to Ten?

Are 10 and 1HD/Digital separate organisations as far as TV rights go? Would it make any difference if that's the case? That legislation has just gotta be punted anyway. What a crock.

Probably becasue they were passed initially by the other networks. 6 weeks before an event is when Pay-TV gets a crack at bidding for somethign, I would imagine something similar for One HD at the moment

Who else is going to be interested in showing Shute Shield here in Perth??

Given that the One HD website is linked to the main CH10 website.......

Agree regarding just getting rid of the legislation, it is a joke
