A PROPOSED Wallabies Test against Fiji, which was pencilled in for July this year, will be played next season in June at either Gosford or the Gold Coast.
Australian Rugby Union chief executive John O'Neill said last night that they had been in recent discussions with their Fijian counterparts, where "we are trying to make sure it is a meaningful Test, involving their best team against our best team".
The match is also likely to be used as a trial for the stadium, which could be the home of the fifth Australian province as part of the expanded Super 15 tournament, scheduled to start in 2011.
Gold Coast is one of the proposed homes for the fifth Australian team, with Melbourne and western Sydney also expected to make bids. A Central Coast team based in Gosford is another possibility.
The most likely date for the Fiji Test is June 5 next year.
