A topsy turvy weekend, with several games not going according to script, make this weekend's games very interesting.
Wanneroo v University
On current form, it has to be the Roodogs. But I anticipate that the Dogs won't be quite as sharp without O'Young and Pelesassa, and they will underestimate Uni and take the opportunity to rest some players. A few players will take the opportunity to rest themselves for what they think will be a soft game. Wanneroo lack quality beyond premier grade, and will suffer as a result. The spectacle wont be pretty, but the Dogs should take it out by 12 points.
Nedlands v Associates
A cracker of a game. A good Nedlands outfit seeing their season slipping from them before it's begun, and a cocky Associates who, having thumped Neds and Palmyra preseason, confidently fancy their chances. News for you Soaks, Nedlands have the Force second string front row, and with a bit of improvement in the lineout will deny you possession from the set pieces. Neds also have powerful loose forwards who will make it their business to tackle Daruda out of the game. You may have the best wings and fullbacks in the comp., but they will be cold, forlorn and left with nothing to do but defend. I give it to Nedlands by 10 points.
Cottesloe v Perth
I have underestimated Cott this season, for which I blame my incompetent spies. This will be another titanic tussle, with Cott's lack of depth going to be the deciding factor. Perth will try to power Cott out of the game in the forwards, resulting in a few injuries, and probably a couple of sin bins. Cott's weak bench of tired second graders won't be up to it. Cott do have some good loose forwards and will take it up to Perth, but not enough. Perth by 17 points.
Wests Subiaco v Rockingham
Boys against men. Wests will try hard but Rockingham will cream them in the forwards and the amount of possession they will have will secure them their first win. Rocky by 12 points.
Kalamunda v Palmyra
Pally have had a dream run so far and it will probably come to a shuddering halt against an angry, dissolusioned Kalamunda. Kala have too many good players to lose three in a row. It will be close, but I give it to Kala by 6 points.
