Bah. I have more important things to use my voice for - booing Digby is waaay down on my list of important things to do. I have 22 of my favourite boys in a rather lovely shade of blue to scream my support for that night - keep dreaming I'll waste my breath on Digby Mr Mooney.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

QRU had a "Come to Ballymore and Boo a Blue" campaign once.

But that was years ago and Qld belted the Tahs.

It seems like the question was put to him by a journo, which would make the journo the noodle (much more likely).

Reds star Digby Ioane ready for fury of Western Force fans

    By Jim Tucker
    April 01, 2009 12:00am

DIGBY Ioane is bracing for a hostile reception when he faces his once-buzzing Perth fan club as a Queensland Red for the first time on Friday night.

The Wallaby flyer was a Western Force cult figure when they launched in 2006 and his scything try to help dump the Reds 38-3 on their 2007 visit to Perth only magnified that status.

"I used to be a favourite of the crowd but I've got to expect a few boos this time," Ioane said yesterday.

"For me, as a young player starting out, playing in front of nearly 30,000 fans in Perth every home game was crazy (in 2006-07). They were real moments in my life.

"I'm a Red now and playing the Force is big for me."

Ioane, who joined the Reds last year, torched the Force with three tries in a pre-season trial at Ballymore when he first dabbled at outside centre.

"You want to prove yourself, show the fans what you've got, because I know from experience how much the Force will be putting into this derby against Queensland," he said.

Ioane is certain to be named at outside centre today when Reds coach Phil Mooney shows his faith in Blair Connor and Rod Davies by retaining the duo on the wings.

Injured Wallaby winger Peter Hynes this week sat down with Connor and Davies to go through their experiences under fire against the rampant Waikato Chiefs last weekend.

"They did some in-depth video analysis with Hynsie, went through some positional issues and I'm sure they've learnt plenty from playing the Chiefs," Mooney said.

Van Humphries deserves to hold his lock spot if the Reds are thinking of tinkering with the pack. In-form backrower Scott Higginbotham played only 20 minutes off the bench last weekend but must be upgraded to at least half a game on Friday night to get the most from his impact.

Queensland wing prospects Luke Morahan and Dom Shipperley are both in the Australian side for the Adelaide Sevens where England, Samoa and Portugal await in pool games from Friday night.

All these stories imply that Digby will be booed because he's a really good player!

I don't get that, Digby will be booed (let's not set up any pedestals here he WILL be booed) for being a backstabbing liar whose word isn't worth shit.

The fact that he's currently the form winger in the Super 14 won't enter into it.

ps I only boo actions not players!, I'd much rather Cheer Crossy for smashing Digby into next week.

Yes, the booing of Digby was deafening.. NOT.

In fact all I heard was polite applause.

Particularly in the 2nd half when Digs seemed to be trying to do it all himself and no one else was.

Yep, only booing I recall was for the ref, and for Higgenbotham's brain explosion... there was quite alot of that though, and I'm certain it wasn't applause in disguise.

    Loved the music last night.

While Higgenbotham was being called out " Baby did a bad bad thing"

And the music while the TMO was looking at the 2 non trys - classic.

And while I dont hear drums at the game (got my sports ears on) during the Fox replay they are fu*kin annoying!!!

I am guilty of applauding Digby’s efforts it is exciting to watch a player who is to be able to break the line like that. I also like the plays where he drew defenders in a gave inside passes as well a putting the ball onto the boot. He is developing his skill set really well and definitely deserves to be in the centres can’t wait to see him put the green and gold on and receiving some of Giteau’s passes.

But credit goes to our centres who for the most part shut him down really well. receive

I don't think anyone booed him, the crowd was rather indifferent. The silence from the crowd when his name came up during the team announcements said it all

there was more applause than booing in our section....i thought he was the stand out reds player on the night, at times it seemed like he was the only one whom was interested
