It is a disaster every Saterday morning

Why cant the juniors play home and away games like the rest of the world why do we have to be cramped into Britannia There is not enough parking the toilets is not enough and never gets cleaned........

FINAL FIXTURES GRADING GAMES

During the recent Wallabies V Barbarians game, I was intrigued to

hear that Twickenham is regarded as the spiritual home of world

Rugby. With our own spiritual heart lying in ruin I was wondering

what alternatives there may be to Perry Lakes.

I first proscribed arcs around the five western suburbs clubs,

bisected the tangents linking them, squared the hypotenuse and

disregarded the five outer Clubs. The result is the geographical

centre of old Perth Rugby. It is situated quite close to the last

resting place of one Vito-Maria Pascuale (RIP) in the southwest

corner of Karrakatta cemetery. Hallowed ground yes but what if we

include the other Clubs in the calculations?

RugbyWA is making steps with the smarter then smoking 7's competition but basically they need to get into the schools through community development officers going and running clinics.

RugbyWA has actually gone backwards in this regard 6 Development officers to 2 1/2 in two years is not really stepping in right direction

Get out to the country areas, don't just limit club rugby to the metropolitan area.

Again hard to do for same reason as above downsizing from 2 1/2 country Development Officers to 0 in two years!!!

Im sorry to say but over the last two years and into the forseeable future resources for Rugby in WA will targeted at the Force and Force only. Little development will occur in club rugby at all if any.

i am with all who say 8 teams in premier is the way to go.

THE GOOD; a higher standard of club rugby no easy games
THE BAD ; two clubs will probaly never be the same again

this could be played 14 rounds 2-3 weeks finals finnishing late july with a rep team tour in august

Ok, I know the traditionalists will hate this one, but hear me out and don't get hung up on the actual pairings and names etc.
Remember, at the end of the day there is going to be give and take if we are going to see WA Club Rugby lift a level.

1. 16 most viable Clubs become "First Grade" with low and equitable salary cap.

2. Based primarily on geography, these 16 Clubs are paired to form 8 teams in "Premier Division". Paired Clubs go into opposite "Pool" from each other to form two Pools of 8.To encourage spread of talent between paired First Grade, measures are implemented such as max 14 players from each Club to be selected for Premier Team.
Squad of X (25?) Premier players eligible for higher salary, up to Sydney standards.

3. First Grade comprises two Rounds.
Round 1: 15 weeks with full squads playing all teams. Week one would be the derby week between paired Clubs.
Round 2: 7 weeks without Premier players playing Pool teams
Top two from each Pool play Semi's and Final.
A bye between Round 15 and Semi, Semi and Final.

4. Premier Division to play 7 week single Round plus return week one "grudge match" in week 8.
A bye between Round 8 and Semi, Semi and Final to allow players to return to First Grade for Semi's and Finals.

5. Pre-match for Premier Division Final be two selections of players that haven't played Premier Division that season, hypothetically WA Governor XV v RWA Presidents XV.

So, an example of the season:

5 First Grade
6 First Grade
7 First Grade
8 First Grade
9 First Grade
10 First Grade
11 First Grade
12 First Grade
13 First Grade
14 First Grade

And now for the real hackles to go up, Club allocation!

The most logical and dispassionate distribution I could come up with is as follows.
Bearing in mind that, assuming viability through an increased sponsorship base for a better product, these Clubs are not what they are today, the "playing field" would be considerably leveled from the current situation.

Associates/Cottesloe/Coastal
Wests/Nedlands/Central
University/Curtin/Students
Wanneroo/Joondalup/Northern
Rockingham/Mandurah/Southern
Kalamunda/Arks/South East
Palmyra/Southern Lions/Rivers
Perth Bayswater/Midland/Eastern

actually i think the fund would be the biggest problem. I don't think anyone want to pour the money

Could be right.
Would need to time it with the start of the next mineral boom and aim for those like Australia's (frequent) richest man (Forrest-FMG) and ditto woman (Rinehart-Hancock Prospecting), who are both Western Australian's, to get one or both to sponsor the competition.
Then chase up the likes of Westrac, Wesfarmers, Woodside, BGC, Midland Brick etc.
If you could get go ahead local companies such as them to sponsor a premier zone team each for full naming and marketing rights then there would be a real base in the "market" and a flow on affect for each of the two feeder Clubs.
Next thing you know junior players such as fabrication and hire companies would want their names next to the Corporates and be available to contribute.
The snowball begins.

I wouldn't know where to start... it would be like trying to defuse an atom bomb!

I am banking on the lack of dissection being the result of appreciation of a sound workable process and not indifference.
