Computer wont turn on

Yesterday my brother (by accident, he says) unplugged my computer from the wall whilst it was still on. When he plugged it back in and tried to turn it on it failed to do anything. I got home that night and tried myself, also to no avail.

So, I've taken the computer almost completely apart to try and isolate the problem. I swapped the power supply to a spare I had and it still wouldn't turn on, I reset the CMOS, I checked the connection of the power button and that seemed to all be in tact and finally I even used a piece of wire to join the the positive and negative connections on the motherboard for the power button. Which all did nothing.

Please help!

is the wall socket working test it with something else

Yeah, my monitor still works as well as the modem and router which are all plugged in to the same board.

I've swapped the plug that it plugs in to as well as swapping the actual power cable for the computer.

I'm using my mums computer...

and nah gerry, when i press the button nothing at all happens.

do you hear the power supply whirring when you power it up? are there any lights on the main board?

My friend had that problem once and it was his PSU. I have no idea what that is but I know he got a new one!

I think his brother should buy the new one. He broke it not the parents.
