Its been put on hold - a law lecturerer from NSW University has taken it to the High Court - it may be unconstitutional.

the hearing is suppossed to be expidited so the tax office knows whether to stop printing cheques or not

Stimulus cash challenge in High Court

Stimulus cash challenge in High Court

More than 10 million Australians are expected to receive payments from the Government's $42 billion stimulus package.

Families began receiving their bonus payments last week, while workers will receive tax bonuses in April.

But University of New England law lecturer and former National party officer Bryan Pape is asking the High Court to examine the payments.

Mr Pape denies he is politically motivated and says he will argue the $900 bonus payment is a gift rather than a taxation measure, as it has been framed.

He says he is mounting the challenge out of concern for the Constitution, not to spoil the Government's $42 billion plan.

Not in my case. I won't be going anyway. But enjoy yourself (maybe). STG v NEW in NRL finishes just before that game.
