Perth's Force in town to prepare in fine style

Queenstown is the preferred training ground for Perth's Western Force Super 14 team this week as it builds up for a match against the Crusaders next Saturday.

The entire squad flew in to the resort on Saturday for a few days away from their usual city-based regimes.

As well as partaking in standard training sessions at the Queenstown Recreation Ground, most of the team are excited by the prospect of taking in some of the thrills on offer around Wakatipu, publicity officer Michael Esmer [sic] said.

"We didn't want to hang around in Hamilton and wanted to get out of cities," he told the Queenstown Times.

"Basically, we decided to prepare down here so the boys would have more to do."

Bungy jumping off bridges and swinging into canyons may be ruled out because of the potential for muscle strains at a crucial point in the season, but he said there would be plenty of less strenuous excitement for the team.

"Most of them have been here before so they are all keen to do a bit of jet-boating," he said.
It is the third time the team has come to Queenstown, which Mr Esmer said offered good training facilities in a stunning location.

Despite a crushing 31-13 loss to the Chiefs in Hamilton, which knocked it out of the top four on Friday, the Force has had a good start to the season and are presently ranked three places ahead of ninth-placed Crusaders on the Super table.

I hope they are out of holiday mode by the time they get to christchurch.....otherwise we could bungy jump from the middle of the table to the bottom and not come back up.

Giving the chiefs a bonus point could come back to haunt us,even the extra 7 points could make a difference to our for and against total.

Looks like McCaw may be out of the side, he was injured in the game against the Highlanders
