Western Force need to be more ruthless to be a Super 14 contender, coach John Mitchell said after last night’s 22-19 loss to the Queensland Reds in a pre-season match at Ballymore.

    but the important bit..

"But when we get leads like this, we have to put the foot on the throat and finish off the opposition. " (John Mitchell)

Did John have a quick read of TWF to get abreast of the game before heading out to the press conference?

    correct me if I'm wrong

Last Hat Trick of Tries scored by a Western Force Player was by Scott Staniforth vs Lions (who were the Cats at the time) in 2006 in the 34-34 draw

Pretty sure thats the one and only Jargs. I think Drew Mitchell/Matt Giteau/Cam Shepherd have all come fairly close though in the past two seasons.

I'm not sure about John, but I'm beginning to suspect that at least someone at the Force's marketing department is reading the site. The themes in the ad that the RWA website was running last night could have been cut from this site.

yeah pocock sounds like he has taken his game to another level, very excited to see what he is capable of in 2009.

regards Ben Castle, he was playing in the Force Academy side wasnt he? from all reports ive heard about the QLD 2nd XV and the Force Academy game, the QLD scrum dominated, now i know the scrum isnt competlely reliant on only the prop, but he hardly sounds like the "best tighhead in Australia"

My spies say that Castle looked short of a gallop in the curtain raiser. Might have been the heat, but it wasn't an oppressive night.

He may need a few laps around the oval.

To be fair Tic Tocc, he has been with the Force for less than a week and probably has had at most two training sessions with his front row partners from the development XV. If he was as bad as you say I would still tell him to pull it together and wouldn't put him in Friday's 22 but I wouldn't write him off yet.

Toulon has become a bit of a joke in rugby terms who knows what fitness levels etc.. they impose. Also the European game is a little different in that they expect the player to play 22 games so the fitness requirements are different.

Last week Castle was playing on an icy pitch in France - this week a Balmy night in Ballymore might have been a climatic shock

agree with both u guys (jAMES AND tHE qUEERoNE) about Castle give him a few weeks I think Mitchell will stick with what he knows for the first few games Castle will have to show Mitchell that he is hungrey for the position - the way Mitchell works. Still think Pek is worth sticking with ..... 36 degrees on Friday !!!!
