As long as we get to see it on tely its got to be worth a try! World rugby needs to do something to lift the profile... Maybe a good concept for the best clubs to play one another (less their rep players?) like a mini world cup after the super 14 and before the 7 nations

Pretty sure its still gonna happen- don't know if it will be televised though. It'd be awesome if it is though.

In Singapore now. And its hot and humid. Not the best conditions for rugby that im used to, but its still alright.

From what I've heard, Phil Greening, the organiser, is a mate of John Mitchells and also is connected with Cott and Pally (they were invited for Singapore Sevens every year), hence the WF connection. Also there is a fairly big supporters base of WF ppl here. Have been in Singapore for the past 3 months and been catching the games at the local WF supporters pub, and theres a pretty good showing here. WF is prob the only club who has actively sought the support of the singapore fanbase, and apparently, they even sent over some players last year to join in the pub from what the locals tell me.

Think this will kick off quite well. Singapore's actually a pretty good location, cos there's a growing fanbase of rugby players over here. I went to watch a local schools league finals match, and they had over 2,500 people coming up to watch the match. pretty impressive. Also, there are quite a few of us expats here who are still keen to catch some good quality rugby live. Will be watching the Spore vs Japan match next month, but doubt that will be quality rugby. Anyway, I say bring it on! Hope this will kickstart a championship that will stay on longer than the ARC!

singapore is a great location to hold the competition. the atmosphere in asis to rugby is getting bigger and more pronounced every day. singapore is accessable from all airports in asia, and is a hub of buisness activity
unfortunatley the climate wont change that much before the competition.

i like singapore, will be trying to get there for this tournament for sure.

[QUOTE=The Man;207422]GOF , How is " The Hub" going? Will it be ready by this time next year?[COLOR="Silver"]

There was an article in the local papers about funding for the hub being temporarily stopped due to the financial crisis, so its reached a dead end. (I presume u're talking about the new sports hub that they are building in Spore?) However, they are hoping things will get moving again and be ready by end 2011, just in time for the 2013 ASEAN games and the 2015 rugby world cup! Fingers crossed it does get going again, cos it sounds like a great place to watch sports in.

But there are a couple of good places to play rugby in and watch rugby. There's the Padang where i was down on Thurs to watch the schools final. its an open field just in front of the parliament house and pretty nice.

I thought I heard them say you had to text before the end of the game? I might be wrong though.
