A New Zealand company will have to come to the rescue of South Africa's Springboks rugby team as another cloud hangs over their famous jersey.
The South African operation of New Zealand-based sports clothing manufacturer Canterbury has gone belly-up, affecting the Springboks and Super 14 franchises the Sharks, Cheetahs and Lions, the Pretoria News reported.
Parent company, New Zealand's Canterbury International, is expected to bail out the sponsorship agreement with the Boks, said Andy Marinos of SA Rugby.
"We have had discussions with Iqbal Khan - senior executive of Brimstone, the owners of Canterbury South Africa - to get some clarity on the impact this is likely to have on SA Rugby," said Marinos in a statement.
"Mr Khan told us that they are in discussions with Canterbury International and he confirmed that they will be able to supply Springbok kit.
"We are now awaiting the outcome of a Canterbury International board meeting."
South Africa have just revamped their national jersey logos as heat went on the Springboks emblem. A large preotea will now be equally prominent.
Well no jerseys as yet...
