Western Force coach John Mitchell to become Aussie citizen

WESTERN Force's Kiwi coach John Mitchell is all set to call Australia home.
"The citizenship forms are signed and on my desk ready for posting," he revealed to The Sunday Times.

It is one of the biggest decisions of Mitchell's life, but sits comfortably on his big shoulders.

It is almost four years since Mitchell moved to Perth. "This is home to me now," he said. "It's a great place to be. It suits my lifestyle. I like the opportunities that exist here, particularly for younger people. There's a lot of freedom; there's a lot of choice.

    BOKKE
“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

why is that? (about how the Force were lucky and why you don't think he could coach the Wallabies)

Mitchell could have gone north...He was a great start up coach...and gave the force an identity from the minute he signed up...you could have had knuckles…To pick up an internationally experience coach first up besides other things to sign some real names not just also rans…

Mud if you don't see Mitchell as a possible for the Wallabies job who exactly do you think its gonna be when Deans calls it time? I mean Hickey, Friend and Mooney probably won't nearly be experienced or proven enough to step up in 2011.

That leaves only a handful of possiblilites of which Mitch is in box seat being the only Australian based candidate who is currently coaching (unlike Nucifora and Pat Howard).

Like I said in the other thread on this issue see my last paragraph:

Mitch has taken a couple of Wallabies and a string of fringe players that could not find a super 14 place and built a team that has been very competitive.

I really liked his comment in the article " The Force offers Mitchell many challenges - and it brings rewards.

"It's a unique set of challenges and it's given me different skill sets," he said. "There's no greater feeling than seeing your own Western Force boys play for Australia, to see a third of your boys playing in a Test team.

"It was very rewarding to go down and shake David Pocock's hand after the Hong Kong Test."

This was what the creation of the Force was all about.

What is dissapointing is that when a great positive article about the Force comes out we only have a few people commenting, but as soon as there is one with "perceived" bad news, the typing fingers are out in full force, so all we are doing is showing the journalists that if they want reactions they need to "print bad news" articles rather than positive stories.""

.....and now even those on a Western force pro site are trying to read negativity into the comments, come on guys there enough doom and gloom in the world lets be positive

I really don't know but in three years their will be a few more on the scene and a number of overseas candidates. I'm sure Mitchell will through his hat in. The Friend, hickey will depend on S14 results. If one of these guys can win a Super Rugby championship who knows they will be a strong candidate. This also applies to Mitchell. I guess that's why for him its important to retain Giteau.

The other possibility is McKenzie and Fisher reapply with more experience.

Additionally I’m sure JON has stated he will move on after the next RWC, so he may not influence the next coach or if it is decided before the RWC. It’s also highly possible that Deans will be offered another term... If the Wallabies progress into a new golden era Deans position will be very strong and he will have many allies. Furthermore the team he is building will last to RWC 2015 and continuity with the head coach would be an asset. And relatively likely by the way things are shaping up. He and his wife may prefer for their family to finish their schooling in Australia. Seems logical to me. Look at Robbie Deans past nature he is not the type of person who moves on every few years, he is a stayer…

Deans is the real thing a Super Coach. The ARU can afford to keep him until 2015

even though Deans has stated that he still wants to Coach NZ at some stage should the opportunity arise?

he is a young man, plenty of time...NZ won't take him directly back after us he will have to go north for a while... They should have given him the job in the first place...NZRU regrets...booo hooo
