However, I was amused by the commentators going from being happy with the projected score early in the innings (~350) to, with ~5 overs to go, trying to justify 270 as a reasonable score, then before the last ball saying "280 is a defendable score" to then "285 is a very defendable score".

Turns out 222 would have been defendable!

Almost as dumb as Hooper or Phipps saying the same.

    Go the Black Caps.

Last November Jimmy Anderson said that it would take an England choke not to win the World Cup (not an exact quote).

Pakistan winning overnight probably means England have to win their last two games against India and NZ.

    Edit: Found the quote:

“There's no-one really anywhere near (England) in the one-day form, probably India is the closest,” said Anderson, England’s leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, on the BBC Tailenders podcast.

“I think in our conditions I don't think anyone is going to come near us, so I think we've really got to screw up if we don't win the World Cup.”

You can’t count James Vince because he’s garbage.

Vince not being selected improves the England side by about 572%

He made a lot of runs and won a few games for your team.

That was a sly dig from me Alison. I know! But like a lot of talented people in the spot light , Kevin developed a huge ego.

Oh he was a great cricketer for us, for sure. But yes, his ego grew and grew until it totally eclipsed all his talent and achievements. Not uncommon in elite sportsmen!
