You have to ask yourself why is it that a coach like Mitch was rejected by the NZRU and Waikato?

Graham Henry also failed at RWC btw.

I would suggest that season 2009 would want to be the Force's first finals appearance. (Read between the lines)

yes, you'd have to ask youself not why John Mitchell was sacked, but why was Graham Henry retained given that his winning percentage was lower than Mitch's and EVERY OTHER World Cup losing All Blacks coach has been shown the door immediately after the tournament.

Mitchell brushes speculation in time for preseason
    ABC - October 7, 2008, 10:00 am

Western Force coach John Mitchell says speculation of a player revolt has not been a distraction to his side's preseason.

The Force are the first Australian Super 14 club to start preseason training in the lead-up to the first match in early February.

Mitchell says the team is continually getting smashed by speculation but are determined to reach its first Super 14 semi-final.

"It's unfortunate just the way that we've got to handle that [speculation], but the only thing that does the talking is performance on the field and results," he said.
