i'd draw the line there and pay someone. Hopefully I can just pull the U-bends and maybe have to shove a coathanger down a wee bit.
    - one of the advantages of being hi-set is none of my lines are not in the walls!

So this has turned into replacing all lines from bath, basin & shower into the DG join. Opened up one U-Bend and it shattered, fell onto another and shattered that one too. Third one is getting done now so it doesn't bite me later.

What would a long weekend be without a wee project hey?

Aren't you supposed to get a licensed plumber to do that sort of work? Certainly would in WA! Can't even touch a tap washer in your own home here.

Surely you can change a tap washer?!?!

Too late for a plumber now. It's already done exactly the same way as a plumber would have done it.
Believe me - if I was smarter I'd have been either a plumber or an electrician so I could always work for myself out of a van.

(And charge poor buggers $50 per 15 mins or part thereof)

Plumber's mantra "REPLACE EVERYTHING" Hot water heater needs a $10 part - replace the hot water heater (..they'll never know)

Disclaimer: It should be noted that no Force supporting plumbers are rip off merchants
