Timana Tahu wants Waratahs centre job

Dual international Timana Tahu says he "hated" being shunted between positions in his first season with the NSW Waratahs and is expecting to be the side's inside centre next year.

Tahu was used on the wing, occasionally at outside centre and off the bench in an injury disrupted maiden season of rugby under then Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie.

But the former Newcastle and Parramatta NRL star was given a second chance to start his career in the 15-man game when new Wallabies coach Robbie Deans fast-tracked him into Australia A's No.12 jersey for the Pacific Nations Cup.

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

i think zimeric meant for the wallabies.
and i agree if that is what you meant. berrick has had an excellent time this year and tahu will have to do some real work to get out there before him.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

berrick and tahu offer two different packages, berrick is a bit more of a 5/8 with his distribution and kicking game, but lacks what tahu offers in natual attacking skill and ability to break the line.

I dont think at any one point you can really compare the two, the play two different game styles, and at the end of the day its really up to the coach in terms of what sort of style he wants the team to play

Berrick is a bit more of a percentage player, whilst tahu is a bit more of the x-factor.

That's because Cross will be in the starting line up so there's a spare spot on the bench.

What's that? They'll finish top of the ladder & then not win the final again?! No-one remembers the minor premiers.

ive said it before cross is an outsied centre, and he is a good outside centre, but unless mortlock hangs up the boots, i think cross will loose his bench spot to Tahu just cos of his ability to cover more positions! being shipped around this yeaqr will help him!

at least we can make the finals, you guys are just waiting around for them to extend the finals series to 10 teams so you can play an extra week!

what are you laughing at anyway?
the fact that tahu has better versatility than cross!
or that your team is trading on mediocrity!

Couldn't agree more with you about Cross being an outside centre. The underlying message in my post was that I expect Cross to be the starting #13 in place of the old battler, Mortlock. Barnes & Cross will cement a centre partnership worthy of Horan & Little, keeping little Tahu with splinters in his backside for the next few years!!!
