    its just utter garbage

should be 'if your good enough, your in' end of story
its like saying the all blacks have to play x amount of kiwis
..or ireland have to play x amount of rangas

Wales has to have a certain amount of players named "Jones" in the team that is just mandatory.

just a question for one of our saffer members on the side, but i was watching the hockey on thursday night Australia vs Sth Africa and was wondering if this "transformation" nonsense applied to all sports in Sth African sport?

I'm fairly certain they exist in Cricket over there

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

if it exists in saffer cricket you would have to think so. I would imagine because its a government thing, not a SARU thing that it would be across the board

I watched that hockey match, the women's one...was that Gordon Bray commentating?

I reckon that they have to have the best players in their team, regardless of skin colour, but at the same time they try to apease the greater population by having a mixed team. More and more the teams are getting 'whiter' but I dont know that its so much of a talent thing as more of a political statement. My personal opinion (so please don't shoot me down) is that because the President is black and the country seems to have a vast majority of white people, they try to have a snapshot of the demographic and at the same time avoid showing favouritism towards blacks, just because the President is. I don't know how true that may be, but I definately think that team selection is becoming more a political decision and less basis on talent.

(apologies if I offended anyone, I dont know the politically correct term for black and white South Afrcian people)

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Ohh Yeah. Full blooded hockey ball is going to do some damage.

I still have dings in my shins from goalkeeping and having the canes in the pads broken with a very fast ball.

    from this.
the south africans would be happy to loose but have a balanced team? as opposed to win by fielding the best team possible, without taking the colour of the players into account?

you would think that they would.
politics should stay out of sport.
