Foreign stars could play for Force next year

Players imported from overseas could be playing for the Western Force, and the rest of Australia's Super 14 franchises, as early as next season with Australian Rugby Union directors to be asked to endorse a new foreign player policy.

So who would you pick for the Force? Forwards or Backs? We have a pretty good back line and since we don't have the technology to clone AJ Whalley maybe Mitch could look at some NH props...?




P.S. Kudos to Tim Clarke at WaToday for at least inserting a WA perspective into the ARU release. He's way ahead of his buddies at the SMH.

Based on what? The ability to actually leave their home in something smaller then a Tank??

Good if we get players like the beast, bad if local boys like Keiran Longbottom miss out.

It depends on how you look at it. Personally I like to see local Perth boys getting a run with the Force, but I like to see the Force win Grand Finals too. Great to build a team with imports but I'd hate to see local talent miss out.

It's a catch 22 and yes I know if they were good enough they'd get in anyway.

i prefer to see local talent getting as well, thats why RugbyWA wanted the Force (at least one of the reasons) so that the local comp had a direct pathway to the top levels of the game instead of having to move east to try their luck. Not interested in seeing burger play for the Force at the expense of Australian players, then again not interested in seeing his ugly mug at all
