    Fitz Files.

Some cuttings from Peter Fitzsimons column this week.

    Deans business

Well, TFF still regrets that the Wallabies coach is not an Australian - courtesy of an old-fashioned notion that our Test team should be composed of our best and brightest instead of our best and their second brightest - but there can be no doubt now of the wonderful effect Robbie Deans has had on the Wallabies. Clearly, a fair chunk of it is a cultural change within the team, and this week I heard a lovely yarn about the way this very likeable, modest man works. A few weeks back, a Fitzphile by the name of Scott Austin was returning to Sydney from Melbourne on the Sunday noon flight and was delighted to see the Sydney-based Wallabies come on board, just after they had trounced Ireland. Coach Deans, as one of the first on board, took his seat in business class beside Austin, but soon realised he was the only one there as for some unaccountable reason all the Wallabies were further back in the aircraft, sitting in economy. Deans quietly got up and walked to the rear of the plane, and a few moments later big winger Lote Tuqiri came forward to replace him. Not long after take-off, the flight attendant came forward to take lunch orders and began, "Mr Austin, Mr Deans, what would you like from the menu?"

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yeah he was great, they asked him how to fix league and his response was "They should push in the scrums, when the ball goes out of play they should line up near to where it went out of play and jump for the ball when it's thrown back in and there should be another 2 players on each team". It went down like a lead balloon.

On a serious note he did say he used to be a big fan of league but doesn't hardly watch it now due to the messing around the players make on the floor at the tackle. To quote him "I have the attention span of a nat so get up and play the ball quickly like they used to".

It was a good show with plenty of hot air expelled which will change nothing, David Gallop is like a politician and thinks everything he's doing is ok. Gus Gould should have interviewed him though not Michael Voss. Sterlo said he watched the AB v Wallabies game and it was extremely fast and very entertaining due to the new rule changes, he went on to say the Melbourne Storm who are the top team in the comp are the most boring team to watch. He blamed the problem with the game on the emphasis being placed on wrestling coaches being brought into the teams now to slow the play up at the tackle which is making the game very boring to watch.

Lots of talk about keeping the emphasis of the game in NSW and QLD, as the Fatman said "Forget Perth and Adelaide their another 30 years away from playing".

SBW is being interviewed on the show next week from Toulon which will clear up a few things, if he is actually on as they said.
