Deans business
Well, TFF still regrets that the Wallabies coach is not an Australian - courtesy of an old-fashioned notion that our Test team should be composed of our best and brightest instead of our best and their second brightest - but there can be no doubt now of the wonderful effect Robbie Deans has had on the Wallabies. Clearly, a fair chunk of it is a cultural change within the team, and this week I heard a lovely yarn about the way this very likeable, modest man works. A few weeks back, a Fitzphile by the name of Scott Austin was returning to Sydney from Melbourne on the Sunday noon flight and was delighted to see the Sydney-based Wallabies come on board, just after they had trounced Ireland. Coach Deans, as one of the first on board, took his seat in business class beside Austin, but soon realised he was the only one there as for some unaccountable reason all the Wallabies were further back in the aircraft, sitting in economy. Deans quietly got up and walked to the rear of the plane, and a few moments later big winger Lote Tuqiri came forward to replace him. Not long after take-off, the flight attendant came forward to take lunch orders and began, "Mr Austin, Mr Deans, what would you like from the menu?"
lots more interesting stuff here.....
