he went to school at rugby nursery Ashgrove College that has produced player like Eales, rugby is like a religion at this school, but apparently in his time there he decided to do debating instead of playing rugby.

Kevin Rudd went to Nambour High. A Mungo school. When he was there Wayne Swan was captain of the "First Thirteen". Maybe it was the treasurer who pulled the funding from that private schoolboys game.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

LOL - he would have been bashed up for not playing rugby there.

The sports teams weren't so much a school thing in those days but as Nambour HIgh was located next to the Showgrounds and the home of the mungo team there they played for them.

Interestingly the Nambour team was called the "All Whites".

Maybe that's why he was sorry.

haha, yes i know they won this year, its hard not to be a old-boy and not here these things. Actually they won the premiership back in 2000 as well, i was there at ashgrove for the final game of the season which also decided the premier, my brother was one of the starting forwards. A certain Cooper Cronk was the starting 5/8 for lauries i believe.

Lauries rugby pedigree hasnt being great the last few years either, the best players all turn up in the NRL, Cooper Cronk and William Zillman the two big names.

In regards to Ballymore i read a article in the Couriermail that said there is rumours of something going to happen at Ballymore to bring in more revenue, something to do with the premier grade comp and getting bigger statewide exposure.

Also a little bit of trivia in regard to the Force and Lauries, Peter Omera was closely affiliated with Lauries being a old-boy and his son was attending there the same time as me.

Now that's an interesting name. I think he went on to play for the Schoolboys before embarking on a Rugby League career.

With all the money slopping about in the NH and the dearth of top class halves in Australian Rugby, I've been expecting him to bob up somewhere. But he's just signed a four year contract extension with the Storm which will take him to 2013 when he'll be 28.

It's reportedly for $1m which at about $250k a year is not much for a player of his quality. His reasons make interesting reading. Who said loyalty is dead?

Loyalty bottom line in Cooper Cronk deal | The Australian

yeah cooper went on to play Australian Schoolboys in rugby union, and in actual fact he had never played a game of league when the storm first approached him.
It was when they offered him a contract that he started playing league for there feeder club Norths in Brisbane, then the Storm.

I always thought he should be 'claimed' back by union, i was actually dissapointed that he re-signed with the Storm.

Specially in light of how much he could potentially earn in RU and the tournaments he might play in.
in regards to his comments, what do you expect a player who just signed a new deal to say?

his not going to come out and say he hates it and only does it to pick up chicks...

He is the type of person who is the ultimate professional, my brother still hangs out with him when he comes back to Brisbane, real nice bloke.
