John O'N must of been suggesting this idea for some time, as the likes of Brian O'Driscoll, King Johnny (remember that drop goal in 2003.. glorious) and James Hook have already shown interested in playing for an australian team.

It would be good to see some marquee players coming to Australia for some pocket money (in the idea of dollars compared to european coin on offer)

I'm just happy to point out that we're not the only oz club picking mungoes, in fact the Force, Reds and maybe even the Brumbies are, and personally I don't think that's a bad thing at all. Get the best players you can and be competitive, seems to work for the Tahs.

They might come into some cash, but they can't spend it on players and stay under the salary cap! the 3 million 'saved' from not paying SBW would be over 4+ years

Not sure Moses, supposably he hasn't even made an appointment to see Tana yet, even thou the media speculation is that there is a meeting this week..

He (SBW) had to sign before the 15th of july that was cut off date for the rosters to be in at FRU. and he didn't so cant see him getting to pull on a Toulon jumper this year..

Maybe a league team from super league will pick him up.

He thinks his s** don't stink, never played a game of rugby in his life, but thinks he's going to be playing for the All Blacks, maybe later on with some 15 a side experience..

Remember Sonny no shoulder charging or you'll be warming the 10 minute bench seats. I wouldn't be paying him a million plus a year, can anyone tell me he is as good as gits (as they will be both on the same coin as each other, if he is being offered what the media say).. I know I can spend a million on a better "experienced" player... (only my thoughts)

If the Force name Giteau there marquee player whats to stop the Reds from making Pockock there marquee player, the force wouldnt even be able to compete.

They could have toulon come on board and sponsor (to 3mil) some players - outside the cap as long as they don't also sponsor the Dogs.

The difference is that Cross is the exception to the rule. It seems that for the Tahs in many cases a union player coming in is actually the exception to the rule.

So, the 2008 Waratahs squad (the one that came 2nd in the Super 14 in case you were wondering), has 5 players who conform (Elsom, Harris, Palu, Sheehan, Tahu, Tuqiri) and 28 exceptions to your rule.
